NYE w/ Keys N Krates (live) + guest djs galore

Tonight we have the talented homies Keys N Krates (youtube channel) playing our NYE party. I don't know why I haven't posted about them before - dudes are straight taking the remix game to a whole new level with their intricate fusion of turntablism, sampling, and live instrumentation.

One of their first gigs, about a year ago:

Several months later, headlining the Livestock annual block party:

Recent trailer for their upcoming mixtape, presented by URB Magazine:

The KnK fam will be joined by Drastik & Kaem in the main party room, while the basement room will feature Sound Syndicate's entire dj roster for all the the house heads.

Toddla T & Herve x DJ Sega

DJ Sega with a deadly new edit. I think a lot of people see "DJ Sega remix" and simply assume its a baltimore beat slapped on top of a track - but there's more to this Mad Decent young'n than mere bmore sound affiliations.

Toddla T ft. Herve & Serocee - Shake Ya Body Naked, Shake It (DJ Sega Philly Club remix)

OH SNAP!! x Treasure Fingers

Treasure Fingers back with another disco touched goodie. This time a remake of an OH SNAPP!! joint, with minor sampling of his own "Cross The Dancefloor".

Jesse Rose - Morning Would

I can't think of a single Jesse Rose mix or track that I haven't liked. Ever. This new joint is quite simple - but incredibly smooth & effective.

Busy Signal x Drake

Been seein' a lot of really shitty Drake remixes at the top of the hype machine popular charts lately. Awful attempts at speeding his otherwise slow delivery into something way too fast to suit the fist pumping clientele. How are these brutal wrongly matched pitch-fucked offbeat "remixes" getting so much (I'm talking 10,000+ downloads in 48hrs) love? I'm no dj... but you won't find me dancing in the laundry room to the sound of my shoes in the dryer.

If you're really tryin' to get the Drake crowd to slap the nearest wall when you drop an edit, at least play it safe and go with something they'll pop off (equally) to - a dancehall version:

Busy Signal - Nuh Fraid Of Them

...and if set on catering to the club peoples, go with a version (of another song) that actually fits & goes well:

Drake - Best I Ever Had (Grandtheft remix)

You've Got The Love (The XX & Renaissance Man remixes)

Not a newbie by any means, but somehow overlooked throwing it up back in September. Florence + The Machine getting a super clean & well put together remix, courtesy of The XX.

Florence + The Machine - You've Got The Love (The XX remix)

And just recently released, the slightly more club appropriate edit, from can-do-no-wrong duo Renaissance Man:

araabMUZIK x MPC

I'm buggin'. This is absurd filthy.

"BOYS A PROBLEMMM!!!" is right.

Jacked from NahRight via A-Trak.

Theophilus London - Cold Pillow

Just ran into this joint on my itunes - don't know why I hadn't upped it before. I first heard of Theophilus London this past summer when Rye Rye (first artist signed to M.I.A.'s label) had to back out of the entire tour with A-Trak due to pregnancy, & Theo was named replacement for the live portion. I was feelin' the boy (pause), and looked forward to seein' him do his mellow Cudi-esque thing. We only found out a week before the party that he would not be able to make our (or any other eastern Canadian) gig. Damn. I'd still like to see how his live set goes down.
