You'll never hear this song at a club, but it fits the current snowfall outside my window. The track is by Icelandic singer Emiliana Torrini. She's the girl that subbed in for Bjork (who stepped aside due to pregnancy) and sang the closing "Gollum's Song" of the 2nd Lord of the Rings movie (The Two Towers). She also wrote two #1 hits for Kylie Minogue, been the vocal backing behind Paul Oakenfold's work, and toured with peeps such as Sting, Moby, and Dido (remember "Thank You", or Eminem's sample of it in "Stan"?).

Santogold, remixed
I could swear I had the TEPR remix of Santogold's "Say Aha" up here about 6-7 months ago. No such post to be found though, how weird. Anyways... that edit still remains my favourite - although the recently dropped Tom Neville version is a very close 2nd.

YO INTERNET POLICE: if that post disappearance is due to copyright/release issues, I provided my email (AwkwardProps@gmail.com) on the right for just that purpose. Holler and I'll replace the downloads with stream and purchase links.
Who Forgot About Dre?

Bizzare Inc. x Drastik & NDN
Pic by Le Champion du Monde
Pat came over yesterday to take some pics for the cover art of his upcoming "Frenzy" mix (dropping mad soon, keep your ears peeled), but we just ended up spending most of the time watching the Comedy Network and throwing tracks back and forth.
His latest edit (made alongside good friend DJ NDN) is a dancefloor heater of the all too familiar Bizzare Inc. classic "I'm Gonna Get You Baby". The original is one he plays out often, but slow bpm and lack of powerful drums hindered it's speaker exposure after 11-11:30pm. Now, infused with some piano fun and a powerful b-more backbeat, the joint is skewed to fit sweaty peak-time dancefloors.

Zodiac Cartel - Klappyn
Zodiac Cartel's 2 week old release has been stacking up some pretty legit praise (from Crookers and Kissy Sellout to Trevor Loveys and Mowgli). Although released alongside "Robots", I'm all about the "Klappyn" joint.

Emynd x Young Chris
This Philly club anthem is a collaborate effort between Emynd (of Crossfaded Bacon, with past releases with labels Unruly, Mad Decent, Flamin Hotz, & Equinox) and 25yr old Rocafella + Def Jam recording artist, Young Chris. Bangs haaaaard.

Suzy Q - Get On Up And Do It Again
Canadian disco stand uppp! Although Atlantic Records released (above), it's original pressing was courtesy of small Canadian label J.C. Records. This some 1981 goodness y'all.

A-Trak x Craze
Been on the hunt for this one for a good minute now. This edit shoulda been on the official release (replacing the Boys Noize version?), in my opinion. Craze, please do more remix work.

PerfSpot Music interviews Awkward Props
The lovely music peeps over at PerfSpot hit me up for a quick music-oriented interview this week. For those unfamiliar with the site, it is a huuuge networking centre - spanning 195 countries and 32 million members. Their ever-growing music section is a haven for those in search of new tracks, independent artists and labels, recent releases, as well as links to outside sources that help further such hunts.
Peep the interview (and tracks I talked about) HERE.
Just scroll down and click on the blog banner to fully open it up.
Bigups to Matt for the linkage and lack of editing out my mention of my wife Jessica Alba.
Also - their previous blog feature was an October chart with Big Stereo (good peoples). If not already a regular visitor, then become one.
Also Also - as of next week I'll be picking a hip hop track of the week for the PerfSpot music section, so keep checking back with them (page is linked under my "fam-lay" section).

Budden subs in for Obie
Bad News:
Obie Trice will not be performing alongside Royce Da 5'9 and D12 at our Nov.13th scheduled concert. Seems Obie has recently run into some problems with the law, and thus no longer allowed into our country.
Good News:
In replacement of Obie... JOE BUDDEN and Canada's own, Classified! Shit is gonna go off like crazy.
PS. I'm all about Budden. The guy is just too much.
Ottawa - tix are only $22 in advance. That's dumb cheap for such a lineup.

Daedelus, remixed
LA's Ninja Tune signed experimental music producer Alfred Darlington (or Daedelus) has seen releases with everyone from Stones Throw and Warp, to Soul Jazz and Big Dada - but it is these two edits that have always been my fave. Mumdance and XXXChange never seem to let down.
Daedelus - For Withered Friends (Mumdance and High Rankin remix) (zShare)

Kid Sister - Get Fresh
Kid Sister's new A-Trak & XXXChange produced joint, from her upcoming Dream Date album. Sample clearance dilemmas have hindered the anticipated album release - so just sit tight, don't complain, and cop it once it drops.
In the meantime, jump over to the wonderful RCRD LBL page for the free "Get Fresh" download.
