My brothers from 3 different mothers (blog/myspace) just released a mix for the monster Palms Out Sounds blog. "Disco to Disco" hits you with the 70's & 80's funky disco classics, and then slowly transcends into the more current disco-influenced ear candy. From Donna Summer to Cut Copy, Carrie Lucas to Boys Noize - its total summer in convertible music.

SMOKE & MIRRORS TOUR - June 14th

Next jam we're throwing is the Ottawa stop for DJ Neoteric and U-Tern's "Smoke & Mirrors Tour". Neo's music collection was somewhat restricted last time he rolled through town, due to very genre specific nights... so it should be fun to just let the boys loose and wreck the people's feet as they please.

Neoteric has that hiphop, baltimore and electro on lock - with dancefloor moving edits that have proven to be Benzi (among others) mixtape-worthy. U-tern is on that heavy disco funk tip, and you know his production is beyond most when cats like Cosmo Baker drop his material on the reg. Not to mention... Switch recently signed both Neo and U-Tern to his Dubsided label (record website coming soon).

A Lidell Friday

Couldn't miss the Jamie Lidell concert. For those who did not attend or aren't familiar with his great sound, check my previous post for songs & videos.

Babylon was nicely rammed.

The guy on sax was the only appropriately dressed for the sweat-box (really though, check his back and the drummer's leg).

Missed the afterparty 'cause I had to run to another venue to judge an annual hair stylist & fashion competition. It's an Ottawa Fashion Week contest where we (3 other judges and I) "discover" the city's top stylists and designers through weekly single elimination rounds. The winner gets one of those fancy industry deals with a big name company + a trip to Vegas.
